SDSL Sport is a unique event combining surf camaraderie and coaching. We offer three sessions, one designed for the beginner who is brand new to surfing, one for the novice surfer and a third intermediate/advanced session for those looking to refine and hone their skills in the ocean (see more below). Fulcrum Surf coaches will be in the water offering critique, advice and direction.
All events will be listed on the Event Calender and announced by email and on our Facebook page. These sessions fill up fast so don't wait to register!
Ability LevelsBelow are some general definitions to help surfers determine the level Sport session suitable for their abilities. Our experienced coaches from Fulcrum can also assist determining your abilities during Sport events. All participants must know how to swim and be conformable in the ocean. You are required to have your own surfboard for all sessions.
Beginner (scheduled as needed)
This session is held occasionally for members brand new to surfing. Part of the session will be spent on the grass/sand practicing pop ups, learning about safety and surf etiquette as well as answering any questions the new surfer always wanted to know but was afraid to ask. Then, it's into the water we go, where our coaches will help with paddling and getting you into waves! Expect a super fun time with Fulcrum's great coaches.
Novice (scheduled every other month)
This session is designed for the less experienced surfer who has some proficiency in the water, including paddling to the outside, popping up and catching less than 50% of her own waves. If you are looking for assistance with paddling technique, turtle rolling, reading and catching more waves, learning to turn, correct stance position, surf etiquette and safety, this is a great opportunity to solidify the basics.
Intermediate/Advanced (scheduled every other month)
